The series of water reflection paintings is a long standing interest of mine. The first works were done in the 1970’s. I have continued the study of the movement of water, the images of fish in the water, and the reflections on the water  most of the time since. As my painting style has evolved so too has the focus of the paintings changed. I have become more interested in the plastic properties of oil paint and that has created a change in the physical nature of the canvases themselves. The paintings are done either from life or from memory. I do not attempt to create a photographic likeness of water reflections but rather paint the water itself, the movement, the mixing, the surface level changes and many other physical artifacts… Jas.
